EIGHT TYPES OF BRAHMINS AS PER SKANDA PURANAM
1) Matra (मात्र) Brahmin is the one who took birth as Brahmin but has no inclination towards Knowledge.
2) Brahmins follow the rules ascribed to him as a Brahmin and has positive qualities.
3) Shrotriya brahman are considered to be those who possess knowledge of a particular Veda, and has positive qualities.
4) Anuchang are those Brahmins who impart vedic knowledge and have the qualities of Shrotriya as well, are pure with clear thinking.
5) Bhruun is that Brahmin who stays in an Ashram and knows the vedas well.
6) Rishikalp is that Brahmin who follows rules and is a scholar of Vedas.
7) Rishi is that Brahmin who follow Brahmcharya and are pure, capable of bestowing boons and curses.
8) Muni is the one that who is totally detached having attained true Knowledge.
