Know the techniques and benefits of Kriya Yoga.
Yoga is a holistic practice for the benefit of body, mind and soul. Kriya Yoga is a very ancient form of spiritual sadhana derived from the yoga system.
It can be described as the science of balancing the life energy in a way it heals the body and mind and elevates the consciousness to the higher levels culminating in self-realization.

Through Kriya Yoga, man can ascend to the higher spiritual planes with ease.

Though Kriya Yoga must be learnt under the guidance of an accomplished spiritual master, we can discuss the five important steps in the practice of Kriya Yoga namely Nabhi Kriya, Spinal Breathing, Maha Mudra Exercise, Yoni Mudra and Third Eye Meditation.
Kriya Yoga must be practised without any hurry in a relaxed manner mastering every stage with perfection.

1st Kriya Yoga (Nabhi Kriya)

Sit in the padmasana or sukhasana (normal squatting) pose. Focus your full attention on the region just below your naval.

Mentally chant 'om' 15 times. Then focus on the back of the naval region and mentally chant 'om' 25 times. Then focus on the back of the neck and chant 'om' 35 times.

2nd Kriya Yoga (Spinal Breathing)

Focus your attention on the spinal column.
Mentally journey through the six chakras accompanied by the mental chanting of 'om' and inhaling during this process. Then exhale and mentally journey down the spinal column to the lowest chakra mentally chanting 'om'. Repeat this for 15 cycles.

3rd Kriya Yoga (Maha Mudra)

Sit erect and inhale. Then mentally travel from the medulla to the crown and focus on the spot in between your eyebrows. Stretch one of your legs and catch the toes with all your fingers.

Bend your spine and touch the knee of the outstretched leg with your forehead. Immediately return to the original position and mentally travel back from the eyebrow centre back to the medulla through the crown. Repeat this with the other leg stretched out.In this way do four Maha Mudras.

4th Kriya Yoga (Yoni Mudra)

Focus on the region just below your naval. Feel the sensation in that region mentally chanting 'om'. Continue this for eleven cycles of 'om'.

5th Third Eye Meditation

This is the final step of the Kriya Yoga. Visualize a circular light in the centre of the forehead. Mentally chant 'om' travelling around the circumference of that light.
While doing this, feel the sensation on the forehead and then feel the sensations on the whole body. Repeat this for 35 times.

7 Chakras of a body in Sanatan Dharma: The word chakra is derived from Sanskrit, meaning “wheel”, or “circle of life”. They consist of seven main energy centers found in the body and is associated with a variety of colours, symbols and Hindu devi/devtas. In Hinduism, the
continuous flow of energy throughout the chakras is referred to as “Shakti”. The concept of chakra was first mentioned in the ancient sacred Hindu text, the Vedas, but also plays an important role in Tibetan Buddhism. Chakras are located along the spine and influence differentnerve systems, organs and glands with their energy. These vortexes of energy are originated from Brahman, according to Hindu beliefs. It is presumed that as Shakti flows from one chakra point to another it exhausts the body and soul.  The energy that becomes coiled in the base ofthe spine (root chakra) is called Kundalini. Kundalini in order to attain a greater consciousness and merge it with the infinite consciousness of Brahman. Through meditation and Kundalini yoga, the energy can pass back up the spine until it reaches the top of the head
